Cho Chose His Fate; No One Else
The AP account of Cho Seung-Hui shows a narcissitic thug - not some sort of confused victim. This "Ismail Axe" terror wannabe is like suicide bombers - the weapon of choice is the only difference. He received outreach from peers, one-to-one attention from a top professor and is the perpetrator, not the victim. His screenplays were mere warm-ups for his final act - and the epilogue should be our condemnation, not our pity. Attention needs to be given to the real victims - the families, the students - and the sooner this selfish person and his "media" is put aside, the better - there is nothing to be learned from him for anyone - but from the heroes and fallen victims. John McWhorter in "Suicide Shooters" had it right in that this wouldn't exist to this extent without an audience - and thus since there is nothing to learn, it should be put away. We should, however, pay attention to the warning signs of the next attention seeking violence spewer and seek more appropriate measures...
"Massacre and mental illness" takes that angle...
