Michelle Malkin in her post "Objectivity at NBC News" comments on the Washington Post piece on Richard Engel in which he declares that he is basically a pacifist and that war should be illegal.
She notes that this is not really news.
What would be news is that if some of the proponents of the war who have never served or visited the troops would sign up for either duty. Laura Ingraham is one of the few top conservative media stars who went over after her cancer bout to visit the troops and had credibility with her criticism. Engel was honest about his POV - and has credibility with at least having been on the scene.
Wouldn't it be effective to have a big tent set of interviews as took place at the White House for patently political election purposes instead take place in Baghdad. Would all the big stars show up for that stint?
War proponents who sit in the US and constantly moan about media bias need to follow Ingraham's example and visit the troops they claim to stand up for and get the picture overseas.
It is very easy to become the media elite that one criticizes. Richard Engel has at least shown up - and so has Laura Ingraham.
