Will There Be Any Consequences for Those Who Cash In On Haditha?
Michelle Malkin, in her latest Hot Air e-Vent, takes on those that exploit the tragedy at Haditha for their own political purposes. She notes that these media outlets who are quick to protect accused criminals, are quicker to rush to judgment on the Marines accused of killing several dozen civilians at Haditha.
One would lend them an ear if one thought they had the least bit of empathy for these victims of war. But much of the coverage blows by stories about these people - of whose names they seem not to have a clue - to prognostications about the outcome of the military investigations or comparisons to other military atrocities or to damning the whole military in one swoop. Many of these are people who have never served in the military or been close to a war zone except perhaps on their GameBoys.
This cheapens the loss of life of these victims - and victimizes them twice as their loss is used to hype and heighten the profile of those that could care less about them, about the loss of their lives or wouldn't cross the road to help them, much less try to liberate them from a savage dictator.
Any military members who committed these crimes will be punished. Will anything happen to those who cash in on this tragedy?
