Brokeback Named Hollywood Word of the Year from Reuters reported that the Global Language Monitor named "Brokeback" as Hollywood word of the year due to its cultural impact for jokes - but not for bucks as it had lots more Google searched than customers for the film.
In second place was "Brangelina" for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, beating out "TomKat" for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
Others included "Petronoia" derived from fear of all things evil connected with the oil industry as shown in "Syriana" as well as "Pimping" from "Hustle and Flow" as well as "Tuxedo" in a tip of the hat to "March of the Penguins".
The really successful films seemed to not score - such as the Harry Potter and Star Wars entries or the Chronicles of Narnia's "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe". Hopefully for the movies producers and stars they can eat their words if the bucks don't keep rolling in...
