Malkin's excellent blog, addresses the latest efforts by NYC to tighten
security on subways. Malkin, never one to mince words or stand on PC sentiments,
points out in inanity of random checks of straphangers - the shaking down of
old grannies and babies for all manner of bad stuff to protect the feelings
of Muslims who may feel targeted if searches were done on the basis of profiling.
Ms. Malkin further notes the "vapidity" of NYC's "heightened
alert" status to reassure citizens that everything is being done to avert
a terror attack.

NYC's plans should put a smile on terrorists faces and an undue strain on law
enforcement. As a PC haven city for illegal alienns where hate speech is equated
with free speech in the mode of London with liberal elite media types, in league
with higher education and certain NGOs, terrorists have a fertile ground to
not only plot and plan - but get taxpayer underwriting for living, education
and other amenities. It is probably understandable why some of the pols lean
in this direction after listeing to the put upon prince and princesses of the
city who are kvetching about their "rights" - forgetting that once
incinerated, their "rights" are a moot point.

However, this reader would favor profiling with a dollop of random searches
- not for PC reasons but to let terrorists know that any packages slipped into
the stroller or bags of a harried commuter or to some willing mule - which in
this city would be as easy to find as a deli, Predictability telegraphed to
the terrorists which we already do enough of should be avoided - rather an aggressive,
multifaceted program should be undertaken. AS for those who object to being
searched - they should take a hike - but not before their picture is taken -
sympathizers come in all shapes, sizes, genders, ethnicities and races in NYC.
