Biden Prez Bid-On? Other Donkeys in the Room?
"Biden
Says He'll Weigh a Presidential Run" from the NY Times, said that Senator
Joe Biden (D-Delaware), Foreign Relations Commmittee leader and frequent political
talk show poobah, is interested in a 2008 run and will decide by year's end.
He made the announcement on Sunday's "Face the Nation", going toe-to-toe
with possible GOP candidate Senator John McCain who was on "Meet the Press"
for the hour.
It looks that the Dem field will be as full as in 2004, given that VA Governor
Mark Warner has indicated he is getting a prez PAC set up and there are folks
such as Senators John Kerry, John Edwards and the donkey in the room, Hillary
Rodham Clinton, to vie with.
Biden withdrew from the 1988 race due to accusations of speech plagerizing
(amazing given his voluble nature) and exaggerating his academic credentials.
He would bring foreign policy experience to the table, having made numerous
trips abroad to Iraq and other places and serving on the Foreign Relations Committee.
This could also tee him up for a Secretary of State position should the Dems
win.
A McCain-Biden race would be nice. Send me the addresss of your new blog.
