Out of Touch School Refuses to Let Student Reach Out and Touch Mom In Iraq
Out of Touch School Refuses to Let Student Reach Out and Touch Mom In Iraq
"Mother's
call gets son in hot water" tells about a school system clueless and
more petty and stringent with their rules than most military or prison systems.
A fatherless high school student's mother tried to call her son who went outside
to receive a call from his mother - whom he hears from about once a month. A
teacher asked for the phone upon spying the student (students are allowed cell
phones for after school calls) when he asked for the phone. The student balked
and was suspended for disorderly conduct.
One has to wonder if anyone in the school knew anything about this student
and his situation. For all the exceptions that are made for dysfunctional families
in our education system, it would seem that this family where the mother is
serving our country and the father was killed, deserve some special consideration
- especially from educators who should know better. This does not speak well
for the Spencer High School in Columbus that know the drill but not the students.
You're right.
I can only hope that the publicity that this incident has received will cause the school to rescind the suspension and apologize to the student and his Mom.

no phones during school hours means no phones during school hours. it isn't a difficult rule to understand.
