King of the Uglies - A Face Only a Mummy Could Love
"Tut Was
Not Such a Handsome Golden Youth" from the NY Times details facial
reconstruction done on the mummy of King Tut from the Supreme Council of Antiquities
in Cairo. Apparently the real visage is not as comely as King Tut's air-brushed
burial mask. A CAT scan of his mummy revealed the more detailed contours that
corresponded remarkably with a childhood depiction of Tut as a sun god.
His receding chin, long skull, buck teeth, big lips suggest a similar anatomy
to the Hapsburgs - and one would have to say, some of today's royals. What a
legacy!
Some of today's royals? Who could you possibly mean?
