Malignant Mindsets and the Culture of
Life
Michelle MalKi has detailed the
literally deadly comments that certain digerati have leveled towards
Laura Ingraham as she soldiers on with her battle against cancer. Insinuations
that this is deserved or self-induced by her articulation of her views demonstrate
instead a malignant mindset - a nihilism, negativity and an affront to the culture
of life that so many people hold dear. It crosses the lines of discourse and
reflects very badly on the sources of the screeds and the venues that sponsor
them. Illness and disability are equal opportunity forces that can strike any
of us and turn one's life on a dime. We do, however, have control over malignant
mindsets and spiritual nihilism. The power of a positive mindset and rich spiuality
are the bedrocks of a culture of life - and life is in turn one of the bedrocks
of our republic. Hopefully some of the authors of these hateful words will rethink
their sentiments for their own good, if not for any compassion for a fellow
human being.
